Welcome to our CNC newsletter.

Welcome to the latest edition of our CNC newsletter. We hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather, and the World Cup!

This month we discuss remote working. It is now possible for anyone with a PC, laptop or tablet to stay connected to their office systems when away from the office. We explain the technical background to this.

And ultra fast broadband is coming! What does that mean for you and your business?

What makes remote working possible?

Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (formerly known as Terminal Services) allows you to access your business applications from literally anywhere. All you need is an internet connection. Whether you are using your broadband at home, a Wi-Fi hotspot or a 4G connection you will be able to use your device to access your business systems.

No more wasted time waiting for the boiler man to arrive! Sign in and keep working. Staying in a hotel and need to catch up on work stuff? No problem. Just log into the hotel wifi and carry on!

Microsoft Remote Desktop Services also makes it easy for employees to work from home, from remote offices and when they are travelling. Anyone with the correct level of access can sign in and use your business applications, wherever they are in the world.

Increased Productivity and Happy Workers!

Remote working has been proven to increase productivity. And it makes your employees happy too! Surveys have shown that many workers would choose flexible working over a pay rise!

Investing in Remote Desktop Services technology will give you the edge over your competition and your employees will benefit from the flexible working options it allows.

Chromebooks, laptops, tablets. All these devices allow you to use Remote Desktop Services so you can carry on working when you are at home or out and about. In effect you carry your entire office around with you!

If you want a demonstration or further information on remote working please do not hesitate to contact us. Call us on 01273 384100 or email us at sales@cnc-ltd.co.uk.

Ultrafast Broadband is Coming!

Instant Downloads and Amazingly High Speeds

G.fast Ultrafast broadband is British Telecom's latest broadband offering. It works in a similar way to Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) technology by running a fibre optic cable to your local Green Street Cabinet, which is then fitted with new technology line cards. From there the G.fast service reaches your home via the existing copper cable.

Imagine pressing Download just as you're getting ready to leave the house and finding your chosen film downloaded to your phone before you set off! Ultrafast broadband speeds will transform how we use the internet and make our home and working lives a lot easier.

BT Openreach has announced that a further 59 locations across the UK will benefit from their on-going deployment of 330Mbps capable hybrid fibre G.fastUltrafast broadband technology. They aim to reach 10 million homes and businesses by the end of 2020. That now makes a total of over 100 different locations across the country. Generally, the locations selected are in different areas where FTTC is available to avoid too many overlaps.

The "pilot phase" of G.fast is now coming to an end. This means that BT Openreach will be able to ramp-up their commercial roll-out of the new service very soon.

We will update you again as soon as the G.fast service is commercially available.
