Great golf day scores another big total

A charity golf day, organised by CNC and Bennet Griffin, has raised £2,440 for the St Barnabas House Hospice.
Sixty-four players, including guests of the two businesses, gathered for the annual event on Friday 29th June and were supported throughout the day by six helpers.
Once again, the event raised essential funds for a charity that provides vital support for many local people free of charge.
This year’s venue was the Dyke Golf Club in Brighton with CNC and Bennet Griffin competing in a ‘four ball better ball match play’ competition.
Teams of two players competed against each other culminating in Bennett Griffin’s pairs receiving the lowest score overall and so keeping the trophy for another year.
Big success
There was also a chance to compete for a £250 holiday voucher at the 5th “charity challenge” hole where players tried to get nearest the pin. In addition, there were prizes for the straightest drive and for getting nearest the pin at the 8th, 14th and 17th holes.
A great day on the golf course was topped by a delicious dinner, presentations, prize-giving and a raffle.
Chief executive of St Barnabas House, Hugh Lowson, said: “CNC and Bennett Griffin have raised nearly £10,000 over the last three years with their annual golf day. We can’t thank them and their guests enough for helping make this day such a success and helping raise much-needed funds for local hospice care.
Essential volunteers
“St Barnabas House helps, on average, 115 patients each day. We can’t do this without the support of nearly 350 volunteers who work in the hospice – many directly with the patients and their families.
“We also rely on the support of local businesses to help raise the £6.5 million we need every year to continue providing end-of-life care for people living in Worthing, Adur and Arun areas. Our service is free to all local people with no obligation. We can be there for the good days, the bad days and the last days.”
